Dear PES Families,
Well, we had a bit of a false start this past week (NFL Playoff reference for everyone!), but we are ready to welcome all of our Panthers back for the start of 2025 this coming Monday! Hopefully, you have had a restful during this LONG Winter Break, a wonderful Christmas and Holiday Season, and a joyous New Year! This will be a full week of school as we return, but please check the calendar on our PES website and app and this newsletter for all upcoming events this week and beyond.
This week, we shine our PES Educator Spotlight on Mrs. Laura Ackerson! Mrs. Ackerson holds a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Bob Jones University, a Master’s in Elementary Education from Salisbury University, and certifications in LETRS Volumes 1 and 2 and the OG+ Reading Intervention. Mrs. Ackerson plans to continue to support and expand Reading Intervention at PES! We are so thankful that Mrs. Ackerson has made the Panther Pride Den her home! #PESEducators #PESPantherPride
Our school is continuing to take part in an exciting, community-wide shared reading event. Today, after our newest special school-wide assembly, your child received a copy of the book—Friendship According to Humphrey by Betty G. Birney—and again is being asked to read it with his or her family at home over the next few weeks. We ask you to make the time to read the book together so your family can participate in this fun reading experience. The information in our newsletter below is being sent home with all students, can be found on our website and blog, and has been emailed to all families
Please read our full newsletter for all the latest PES and CCPS news. This includes information from our school, the larger school district, and some of our community partners offering resources to our families.
