Dear PES Families,

We hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend! Please read the entire newsletter to learn about Preston Elementary School's news and upcoming events. We also encourage you to follow us on Facebook and the CCPS app.

Our newsletter can be found here. Here are the important updates for this week:

Our Preston Panther PTO has kicked off its annual major fundraiser to support all they do for Preston Elementary School. All proceeds from this fundraiser directly benefit the PTO, which then uses those funds to support PES and events like dances, book fair donations, Spring Fest, and much more. Please see the QR code on the flyers in our newsletter to order. Orders can be placed at this location. These flyers have also been sent home with your student, and emailed to all families.

The Lego Book Club will meet this Thursday, 2/13, at 3:45 PM

On Friday, 2/14, we’ll celebrate Valentine’s Spirit Day with a half-day of school. School will be closed on Monday, 2/17, for President’s Day.

Class Photo Day is on Tuesday, 2/18, so be sure to dress your best! Ordering information for Class Photos is in the newsletter and has also been emailed to all parents, posted to our Facebook page, and sent home with your student.

Our Spring Book Fair will take place during the last week of February, and we will wrap up the month with Parent Day on Friday, 2/28. We look forward to seeing you at these events, and more information will come home as we approach the end of February.

The CCPS Board of Education has released the amended 24-25 school calendar to account for snow days and make-ups. For details and a copy of the amended calendar, please see the article linked in our newsletter.

This week, we shine our PES Educator Spotlight on Mrs. Laura Drathman! Mrs. Drathman teaches 4th and 5th Grade ELA and 5th Grade Science and Social Studies here at Preston Elementary School and has taught for 16 years, with 14 at PES! Mrs. Drathman holds a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education (Mercyhurst College) and a Master’s in Special Education (Mercyhurst College). Mrs. Drathman also holds both PA/MD teaching licenses in Elementary and Special Education. In addition, Mrs. Drathman is certified in IMSE OG+ and LETRS Vol I and II. Mrs. Drathman is also our SIP team's PES ITSS ELA Lead Teacher. Mrs. Drathman plans to become a CERI-certified structured literacy specialist this year.
